Hello Everyone

DANCE UNDER CONSTRUCTION is a new and exciting arts development dance initiative set up by the Drum and The Association of Dance of the African Diaspora (ADAD) to encourage, nurture, support and develop new dance productions by Black British dancers, choreographers and emerging dance companies.

DANCE UNDER CONSTRUCTION provides a platform for Black British dancers, choreographers and emerging dance companies to test run their ‘work in progress’ dance productions, to an invited audience made up of other culturally diverse dance practitioners and audiences who enjoy viewing new and fresh Black British dance productions. Whilst at the same time providing the artistic development and support that British African, African Caribbean, Asian and Mixed Heritage dancers, choreographers and emerging dance companies need in order to take their dance productions to the next level.

Each month we will feature two dazzling dance productions from across the UK.

For our first premiere Dance Under Construction event we have Imani Jendai showcasing her piece called ‘Tap Lyrical Journey’ an autobiographical solo using tap, African and Caribbean rhythms as well as spoken word and video projection.

Our second piece is called ‘Untitled’ by Keisha Grant based on an idiosyncratic movement based on contemporary and African dance.

We will be launching this event on Thursday 19th February 2009, 7.30pm @ The Drum, 144 Potters Lane, Aston, Birmingham, B6 4UU.

I look forward to seeing you there…

Dance away!

Please can you forward this e-flyer on to any of your budding dance enthusiasts!
